Microsoft Surface Mini: Specs Of Rumored Windows-RT Tablet Include 7.5-Inch Display, 5GB RAM, 3.1GHz IBM Processors; Expected To Be Unveiled Spring 2014

Microsoft Surface Mini: Black Friday is less than a week away and discounts for the Microsoft Surface 2 is expected and much awaited for. The rumored 7.5-inch Windows RT-tablet, however, dubbed as the Microsoft Surface Mini may not be available until Spring of 2014.

Nonetheless, news on what the smaller tablet would look like has already “surfaced.” It’s expected that it will be 7.5 inches and will have 5 GB of RAM. If that’s the case, the upcoming tablet will have the most system memory of any tablets to date, more than twice the Nexus 7 and Sony Xperia Tablet Z has.

Though it doesn’t have the famous Qualcomm chip set, the Microsoft Surface Mini will carry a 3.1 GHz IBM processor and a custom ADM GPU. In terms of design, the look and feel of the device would most probably be similar to that of the Surface 2.

Other details yet to be unveiled is the weight of the tablet and the usual specs like WiFi compatibility and storage types. In terms of the latter, it won’t be surprising if Microsoft will have a base model that starts at 16GB of storage and progresses to 32GB or so.

The groundbreaking specs for this device would be the RAM, as it will make it the only tablet with such huge amount of memory and could potentially overshadow the appeal of the larger Microsoft Surface 2, which in itself only has 2GB RAM.

Although it’s too early to tell on what the Surface 2 would look like or only renders and concept drawings are what we can find in terms of its design, it’s far from a surprise that Microsoft who earlier said that it’s mobile OS is gaining traction won’t jump in the smaller tablet market.
