JYJ Making New K-Pop History in South America

JYJ is to open a new chapter in K-Pop history as the first Korean singers to hold an exclusive concert in South America.

The concert is to take place at Teatro Caupolican in Santiago, Chile on March 9 and Explanada Sur del Estadio Monumental in Lima, Peru on March 11.

The concert venues are well known as hug pop stars have held their concerts such as legendary heavy metal group Korn, X-Japan at Teatro Caupolican. Britney Spears, The Black Eyed Peas, and Avril Lavigne held their concerts at Explanada Sur del Estadio Monumental, the second largest football stadium in South America.

This is not the first concert from Korean singers as Cube Entertainment held their joint concert as ‘United Cube’ in Sao Paulo, and Brazil with BEAST, 4minute and G.NA. However it’s a first as an exclusive concert for a Korean singer or group.

The reaction from local South America has been tremendous especially for those who are in their teens and early 20s.

Local media outlets from Chile and Peru have reported on JYJ’s exclusive concert. Mega News and La Tecera in Chile covered JYJ with the title ‘The First Korean Concert in South America,’ introducing the group as world famous boy group that have worked with Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins.

Peru was not missing a beat with Frecuencia Latina, major broadcasting station introduced the group on their news program ‘Punto Fianl’ in January with title ‘Pop Coreano en Lima (Korean Singer Comes to Lima).’

The anchor of the news program mentioned, “JYJ’s popularity and followers are growing enormously in Peru on and offline.”
