Microsoft Surface Mini specs, release date, rumors: It’s far-fetched that we’ll see a smaller version of the newly launched Surface 2 this Black Friday, but nonetheless, many are speculating that we’ll be gazing at what could be the Microsoft Surface Mini next year.

The Microsoft Surface Mini may have a groundbreaking 5GB RAM for a smaller tablet. It will make it the only tablet with such huge amount of memory and could potentially overshadow the appeal of the larger Microsoft Surface 2, which in itself only has 2GB RAM. If in case the rumors are true, the Mini will have more than twice the RAM of the LG G Pad 8.3 and Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 7 and five times more than the Nexus 7.

The rumored 7.5-inch Windows RT-tablet may not come until 3Q 2014 and according to Geek.com, the Surface Mini is not the only new tablet that Microsoft is working on. The tech site reported that Surface VP Panos Panay has confirmed the possibility of an LTE Surface Pro 2 version of the gadget.

Though all we have available on what the Surface Mini could look like is a render, possible features of the Mini is already in discussion. Microsoft Surface Mini is expected to carry a 3.1 GHz IBM processor and a custom ADM GPU. In terms of design, the look and feel of the device would most probably be similar to that of the Surface 2.

Other details yet to be unveiled is the weight of the tablet and the usual specs like WiFi compatibility and storage types. In terms of the latter, it won’t be surprising if Microsoft will have a base model that starts at 16GB of storage and progresses to 32GB or so.
