As hinted by Gamestop, cited by Wii U Daily, Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U release date is slated for April 8, 2014. Though the site is famous for revealing release dates of highly-anticipated game, usually, the alleged launch schedules provided end up as placeholder dates.

It has not been revealed what role the Dark Emperor will be playing in Super Smash Bros. 3DS nor if it will appear in the Wii U version.
