Sony Xperia Z Review, Price: Specs Of Device W/ 5-inch 1080P Display, 13.1 MP Camera, Up To 32 GB Storage & Android 4.2.2 Won’t Justify $450 Price Tag

Sony Xperia Z review, price: The Sony Xperia Z, exclusively available at T-Mobile for its carrier-branded version, is dubbed by Sony as having the “world’s sharpest 5” ‘smartphone display.” It boasts of high level of water resistance and a high-quality camera. It was announced by the tech giant January 2013.

Specs of the Sony Xperia Z include a 5-inch 1080P display with a pixel density of 443 ppi. It also has the highly anticipated (at that time) 13MP Exmor RS camera sensor which allows for HDR video recording and a video recording feature that offer a 10fps burst mode at 9MP. T-Mobile notes that it’s ultra-slim, water-resistant and dust-resistant. Storage for the device is up to 32GB with MicroSD support. It has 2GB of RAM and a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon processor.

According to Phone Arena, a plus for the device is its very big and high-resolution display, extremely high pixel density, quad-core processor and lots of RAM. Not to mention, its water resistant. It also offers fast mobile data support and NFC for mobile payments. It has an HDMI connector with its microUSB support.

CNET though isn’t deeply impressed with it’s short battery life, slow camera, and the processor is “not as peppy as those found in other flagship phones.” The tech site also says that the glossy chassis of the Xperia Z attracts fingerprints easily.

A blazingly fast performance and a long battery life is usually a must for some devices and the same goes for the Xperia Z. T-Mobile offers the device starting at $0 for a contract and up to $499.99 for the unlocked version. A quick search at Amazon shows it ranges between $420-450 for unlocked versions.

Nonetheless, despite the hyper-attractive design of the unit and it’s impressive under the hood features, the price doesn’t justify the unit which runs on Android 4.2.2. Based on reviews, the slow speed and short battery life is a huge minus for this otherwise physically attractive device.
