iPhone 5s Touch ID: Accuracy Of New iPhone's Fingerprint-Secured Home Button Depreciates Over Time, Reports And Complaints Show

The iPhone 5s Touch ID is undeniably one of the most popular features of the current Apple flagship phone. Consumers may not be aware that their phone runs on an A7 chip with 64-bit compatibility, but they would surely know that the device's home button has a fingerprint sensor for security purposes.

However, what if the performance and function of this revolutionary feature depreciates over time?

In a report by BGR, a certain Dr. Drang, who is described by 5b5 as a consulting engineer, posted on his blog that the iPhone 5s' fingerprint sensor becomes inaccurate over time. It does not mean the home button stops working completely, but seems to 'forget' the fingerprint of the after a particular period of time.

Unfortunately, this is not an isolated case as other iPhone 5s owners expressed the same sentiments to BGR after the report was published. After registering their fingerprint, it takes several days to a few weeks until they notice that the sensor eventually 'forgets' the fingerprint. As a result, they have to register their fingerprint again.

According to Drang, "Generally speaking, I like it, and I find it faster than the old swipe-and-passcode method, but I've felt compelled to reteach it my fingerprints twice already. I know this sounds impossible, but its recognition of my prints seems to decay with time."

We sure hope would be able to see through this issue to take away the worry and anxiety of iPhone 5s owners all over the world.
