LG G2 review: It’s the first smartphone in the U.S. to have the Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor and has been serially praised for its design and specs. The large display of the LG G2 offers some of the highest resolution for a smartphone and its camera is at par with the best of the best Android smartphones today.

Phone Arena notes that a notable multimedia feature is the support for 24-bit, 192KHz audio and the design of the flagship is quite unique for its volume and power buttons, which are placed on the back.

PROS
In CNET’s review, they noted that the LG G2 has top-of-the line processor, an expansive screen a powerful camera that’s lightning quick. Phone Arena highlighted the very big display and high-resolution display of the unit as a plus, as well as it’s fast mobile data support and HDMI connector for TV-out.

CNET noted that the display in the LG G2 is incredibly crisp and on maximum brightness level, the colors are vibrant. It has an extremely fast and respectable camera where the photo quality was generally good. The phone’s blazing processor fused with optical image stabilization allows it to snap high-quality images with speed.

Battery life of the unit is also a plus, as earlier noted by Laptop Mag. In a battery test conducted by the website, which involves continuously surfing the Web over LTE on 40 percent brightness, the Verizon version of the LG G2 with its 3000 mAh battery lasted 9 hours and 41 minutes.

CONS
A key downside of the LG G2 is lack of Micro SD support, which limits the storage to 32GB max, says Phone Arena. Laptop Mag notes that the viewing angles on G2’s display aren’t quite as wide as other phones, and its Rear Key design takes some getting used to. CNET calls it as a minus that the smartphone’s new software features are buried and unintuitive, plus there’s no microSD card slot.

PRICE
Price varies for the unit across carriers. An Amazon.com listing shows that the black LG G2 starts at $29.99 with an individual plan and up to $629 with a service plan. It’s a $70 less than the contract-free version of a Samsung Galaxy S4 and more than $100 cheaper than an unlocked iPhone 5S.

VERDICT
LG G2 is a phone that delivers on both performance and design, but requires a bit of adjustment for the new user. Its specs though definitely ranks it as one of the best Android phones in the market and gives it an edge in many ways. If you’ll go on contract or won’t mind the $600 plus tag, then LG G2 is a definitive choice for an Android handset.
