Tom Cruise Lawsuit: Katie Holmes Testimony Over $50 Million Defamation Case Against Bauer Publishing Could Bring More Legal Problems
Tom Cruise lawsuit against Bauer Publishing is getting more and more controversial as time goes by. His ex-wife Katie Holmes is recently being linked to the $50 million defamation case filed by the actor.
As reported by RadarOnline, Katie could be called on to provide evidence against her ex-husband Tom Cruise.
Life & Style magazine accused the "Mission Impossible" actor of "abandoning" his 7-year old daughter, Suri following the divorce with then wife Katie Holmes, an allegation he strongly denied.
Apparently, the publishing company that Cruise is suing for $50 million is considering to ask Holmes to take the stand and talk about her marriage and parenting skills of Cruise.
If the plans goes well and the court allowed Katie Holmes to take the stand she will be compelled to speak honestly and freely about their marriage, which was reportedly ended because she wanted to protect her daughter, Suri against Tom's Scientology religion.
"The decision hasn't been made yet. It's certainly possible. A decision is likely to be finalised in the next few months," an insider to the case revealed to RadarOnline.
The "Jack Reacher" star recently admitted through his deposition that he hasn't seen Suri for 100 days, saying: "Listen, when there is a divorce...things change. It's not an ideal scene. It's not an ideal situation."
"I tolerate a tremendous amount and I'm very privileged to be able to have the life that I have, and I believe that. But there is a line that I draw for myself and that's it. And I asked for an apology. I asked for a retraction. They denied it," he added.
RadarOnline allegedly received a string of emails from Tom Cruise's legal team accusing Katie Holmes of staging a paparazzi trying to "one up" Cruise.
On the other hand, if Katie do take the stand against Tom Cruise, this may lead to more legal impediments, as the former couple is believed to have signed a confidentiality agreement prior to their divorce settlement.
