Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review Round-up: Specs & Performance Makes It The Best Business Ultrabook; Packed With 2.8Ghz Intel Dual-Core Processor, 4GB RAM

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon review: It’s billed by its manufacturer as the world’s lightest 14-inch ultrabook. It describes the carbon fiber roll cage of the laptop as allowing it to become ultralight, ultradurable and highly portable. The X1 Carbon starts at $1,189.15 at the Lenovo website.

Specs of the ultrabook include an Intel dual-core processor that clocks in at 2.8GHz. It has 4GB of RAM and has 128GB Solid State Drive. The unit’s 14-inch display has a resolution of 1600 x 900 and the ThinkPad X1 Carbon also comes with an Intel HD Graphics 4000 processor.

The X1 Carbon is much thinner than the original X1, and the front tapers to the sharper edge, CNET notes. The top cover of the laptop is made of carbon fiber and is found in only the most expensive laptops in the market. The unit weighs just the same as a MacBook Air.

In a Laptop Mag, the website cites the lightweight and durable design of the unit as a plus. It also commends the high-res screen, webcam and fast charging time that the X1 Carbon possess. The ThinkPad’s has a good overall performance, says the Notebook Review, a great matte display and solid construction and a “best touchpad surface...ever!”

The downside of the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon include a so-so battery life, according to CNET. The site also says that the laptop is missing some consumer-friendly options such as an HDMI. Notebook Review says that gets pretty hot and though the display has a 1600 x 900 resolution, a 1080p would be better.

Overall, numerous websites bill the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, despite some of its shortcomings as a great buy. “If you want the best business Ultrabook around, the ThinkPad X1 is worth the premium,” writes Laptop Mag. CNET says that factoring out its few quirks, it’s “otherwise a very impressive business-oriented ultrabook with strong crossover potential.”
