New Jersey allowed a 3-1 lead to slip away in a 5-4 loss Tuesday vs the Columbus Blue Jackets, the Devils had their first full team practice in more than three weeks Wednesday. Now, they have to face Sidney Crosby and a Penguins team that can strike in the blink of an eye.
"I think we needed to practice," forward Dainius Zubrus told The (Bergen) Record. "It's good with Pete that we have the same system and same things that we've done for a couple years now, but still with some young guys coming in, we develop our (good) habits in our practices. The good habits need to kick in and we need to be doing them consistently."
Evgeni Malkin and James Neal have plenty of chemistry on the ice, but Malkin won't get to play alongside Neal for a week, as he's eligible to return next Thursday against Minnesota.
"There's no doubt they're good together," Sidney Crosby, who scored Monday and has three goals and four assists during a four-game point streak, told ESPN.com. "They're both really good players. When they don't have each other, they're capable of making plays, too."
