Nexus 7 Android 4.4.2 Update Comes To Tablet; Software Update Available OTA & Manual Installation; Enriches User Experience & Device’s Performance

Nexus 7 Android 4.4.2 update is here and Gotta Be Mobile reports on the availability of the OS fix and it’s performance. It notes that the new OS is available Over The Air (OTA) or through manual installation but that the rollout is slow and users may not see the update just yet.

Overall, Gotta Be Mobile says that the new update has enhanced user experience and the device’s performance. The update is rather small but has brought speed enhancements in some areas and slowdown in other areas.

The experience with Nexus 7, infused with Android 4.4.2 feels snappy with fast access to apps and overall navigation around the device feeling slightly faster. The reviewer from GBM notes that there has been no encounters so far on app incompatibility issues yet and there maybe none at all as this is a minor update.

One noticeable update coming from the Android 4.4.2 has something to do with the rear camera. While snapping images, users can swipe to the right to see recent photos. Tapping on recent photos, the user will open the Photos app, which is part of Google Now. It will not show the Gallery app that it used to open.

The GBM reviewer notes that the change is small, but is a nice touch. It also has added features like automatic backups and image editing capabilities.

One key trouble GBM noted when the Nexus 7 updated to Android 4.4.2 was a slower speed when it comes to downloading webpages, apps and files. Like in some cases, this could be attributed to the connection, but the issue persisted in two separate WiFi networks and once via LTE. It is still unknown if it’s due to new OS.
