Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite release date: The high-end phablet is getting a new variant according to a report by Korean publication ET News. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Lite will be feature a 5.68-inch LCD display. The report also noted that the South Korean tech giant has already began manufacturing the device.

According to GSM Arena, Samsung will apparently manufacture 500,000 Galaxy Note 3 Lite in January and then 1.5 million in February with the plan of Lites eventually accounting for 30% of Galaxy Note sales.

The mobile industry-focused site said that the move could have consequences and could probably hurt the premium image of the Samsung Galaxy Note brand which the company has worked so hard to build up.

Based on reports and speculations, Samsung may unveil the new Galaxy Note 3 Lite at the upcoming Mobile World Congress this February in Barcelona. GSM Arena notes though that speculations and rumors like this may be false in the end, thus it’s important to take this ewith a grain of salt.

If rumors are true that a Lite 3 will arrive, the price of the unit is expected to not be far off the current price for an unlocked Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which is being sold for $724.99 without contract on Amazon.com

The Note line of Samsung is its highest-end line of handsets and has received a successful reception. The Samsung Galaxy Note 3, which was released last September at the IFA Consumers Electronics Show in Berlin is the first Samsung device to support the company’s wearable flagship, Samsung Galaxy Gear.
