NBA Trade Rumors – Houston Rockets Have Finalized Asik To Sixers Trade; GM Waits For Desperation Offers Until Thursday

The Houston Rockets already have a trade in place for Omer Asik. The disgruntled center will definitely be traded before December 20. Players traded on or before this date can still be traded again before the Trade Deadline. GM Daryl Morey wants to have that option.

USA Today’s Sam Amick tweeted that rival executives around the league have confirmed that a deal between the Rockets and Phildalphia 76ers has been agreed upon, and they will pull the trigger on Thursday.

Houston Rockets GM wants to wait for ‘desperation offers.’ Inquiries for Asik have been met with a ‘try to top that’ response. Morey will also execute the trade on December 20 because apparently, he still wants a first round pick. Trading Asik on that date will allow him to trade the player/s he gets before the trade deadline. If not, he is ‘stuck’ with that player until the end of the season.

The details of trade havenot been disclosed yet, but the buzz around the league is that it’s either Thaddeus Young or Spencer Hawes. Both players have shown improved play this year due to the Sixers’ weak lineup and free wheeling offense. Their team is allegedly ‘tanking’ and the players that are receiving maximum exposure are only being given a chance to increase their individual value through a trade.

The Sixers ‘stumbled upon’ a surprise Rookie of the Year candidate in Michael Carter-Williams who is currently ‘day-to-day’ due to injury. Critics see this as another tanking move as MCW has led them to at least three wins.

NBA Insiders project that the core of Evan Turner, Thaddeus Young and Spencer Hawes will all be traded at any time within the year. Turner, for example is part of the 2010 Draft Class who were due for an extension. Turner has expressed disappointment over the Sixers not even starting any negotiations, which is why he believes he will ultimately be traded.

The Rockets will probably expose the Sixers’ player he will get to augment his trade value and eventually be worth a first round pick. They have become satisfied with their current rotation with the emergence of Terrence Jones. Which is why he wants a first round pick, but no team offered that for Asik whose trade value diminishes the longer he stays in Houston.
