Doctor Who Season 8 To Begin Filming With Peter Capaldi After First Script Reading As Jenna Coleman Says Goodbye To Matt Smith

"Doctor Who" is getting ready to air the 2013 Christmas Special, and it looks like season 8 is getting ready to film as fans prepare to say goodbye to Matt Smith.

Recently, the official BBC "Doctor Who" Twitter account confirmed that the first read-through for season 8 has just been completed with Peter Capaldi as the new Doctor.

This usually takes place right before filming, so we can assume that filming for "Doctor Who" season 8 will begin right as the New Year rolls around!

And one person who is seeing it all through—from the Christmas Special to season 8—is Jenna Coleman as companion Clara.

"It was incredibly emotional - I knew it was going to be difficult but just how emotional I found the process really took me by surprise," said Coleman regarding saying goodbye to Matt Smith.

"I became attached to Matt - it's such a strange relationship because it really is just the two of you. You spend every day running together and saving the world and each other's lives... And there's no other way to describe it other than: he's my Doctor."

One interesting theory about "Doctor Who" season 8 is that a new companion will be introduced along with the introduction of Peter Capaldi, and the current frontrunner is Tristan Beint, who made a brief appearance during the "Doctor Who" 50th Anniversary as school teacher Tom.

What do you think will happen in "Doctor Who" season 8? Whovians will have to wait until August to find out.
