LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat Update Arriving In Korea By End Of 2013 With Global Rollout Coming 1Q 2014; New Features Include Translucent Menu Bar, New Dialer

LG G2 Android 4.4 KitKat update: Google’s latest mobile OS is coming to the LG flagship handset by the end of this year, according to the Korean-language blog of the South Korean tech giant.

According to NDTV, an LG Canada representative, Court Elliott, confirmed that the Android 4.4 KitKat will be rollout at the latter part of 1Q 2014. The new mobile OS brings new features such as the translucent menu bar, a new dialer and caller ID feature.

Other features offered by the Android 4.4 KitKat include unified Hangout messaging app, smarter Google Now integration; step counter and detector; and support for screen recording.

Mobile Syrup notes that the LG G2 is a great piece of hardware, but the Android 4.2.2-based software skin that arrived with it was “clunky and in many places, ugly.” The mobile industry-focused website is hoping that LG can sort out majority of its UI and UX issues to accommodate the performance and feature improvements that come with Android 4.4 KitKat.

In a review of features by Know Your Mobile (KYM), it noted that Android 4.4 KitKat is a pretty significant update. The new OS both have UX changes and plenty of new features. KYM said that a lot of the new attributes of the OS has gone under the hood, but anyone using a stock version of the OS will notice subtle differences in the design, layout, look and feel of the newest Android.
