‘X Men Days Of Future Past’ - X-Force Script Already Done; Who Will Be In The Roster Of New Mutant Group? Are They Friend Or Foe Of The X Men?

The X-Men are not the only mutant group committed to the cause of Professor X. As more mutants emerge, more groups have formed. The X-Force is one of them.

The X-Force was formed by a time-travelling mutant known as Cable. In the comic books, Cable is actually a clone of Stryfe, who is revealed to be the son of Scott Summers (Cyclops) and Jean Grey, the founding members of the X-Men (in the comic books, not the movies).

X-Force creator Robert Liefeld (or Rob Liefeld) has several tweets about the progress of the project, specifically the script which was written by “Kick-Ass 2” writer and director Jeff Wadlow.

Wadlow has also given a few hints of his own. On a chat with Slashfilm, he mentions how Fox is gathering all the talents involved to collaborate on building the expanded X-Men Universe. Referring to Mark Millar, Fox consultant on Marvel projects:

…I owe a lot of it to Mark. X-Force is something I’m incredibly passionate about and without his support it wouldn’t be happening.”

On the X-Force: “Oh yeah. I love the current incarnation, UNCANNY X FORCE. I love what Rob did in the nineties. I remember buying X FORCE 1 and what I’ve really loved about the announcement that we are working on the movie is how excited people are by the potential, but also how curious they are like “What’s the line up?” What’s interesting with X MEN, I mean they have an iconic lineup, so you know who is going to be in that movie, but X FORCE it’s like “Who is it going to be?” I love that people are guessing.”

Millar eventually specifies: “People are going to be dissecting every name as it gets released, so it’s will be so cool when you have your five.”

Thus, the roster is composed of five mutant heroes. X-Force was released to be an ‘edgier’ version of the X-Men. While they still adhere to Xavier’s dream, they understand that the methods to achieve that goal may not be as peaceful. This has led to some conflicts with the X-men (whichever incarnation they encounter) or X-Factor, a group formed by the original five X-Men who eventually worked in tandem with the government.

Prime candidates are Cable and Deadpool, a character Fox wants to develop for a feature film. Perhaps they can introduce him in the group first. Wolverine has also been a member, as well as Sunspot, Archangel, Domino.

The project has not been given the greenlight as yet.
