The Simpsons' Christmas Episode Gives Touching Tribute To Marcia Wallace's Character Edna Krabbapel; Will Bart Still Miss Mrs. K?

Despite the array of festivities that come with December, 'The Simpsons' Christmas episode still managed to incorporate another meaningful tribute for one of its characters - Mrs. Edna Krabbapel.

In the winter-themed opening credits of 'The Simpsons' Christmas episode, Bart Simpson's beloved teacher appeared with a pair of angel's wings. Although very short, viewers were able to reunite again with Mrs. K who was played by Marcia Wallace.

Also included in the opening credits is the animated show's late writer Don Payne who appeared next to Mrs. K. "We wanted to do a tribute to two terrific people, Marcia and Don. The episode was sadly Don's last," said Al Jean, the show's executive producer.

Payne, who also penned 'Thor' and 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' passed away in March at the age of 48 because of bone cancer.

On the other hand, Wallace died in October at the age of 70 because of pneumonia complications. A month after her death, the actress was given tribute in an episode where Bart Simpson wrote "We'll really miss you, Mrs. K" on the classroom chalkboard.
According to producers, Wallace's character will not immediately disappear on-screen because the Emmy-winning actress was able to record episodes that can even last for a year. It is yet unknown how the writers will come up with a memorable exit for the fourth-grade teacher.
