Porn On Walmart Nintendo System Found By 8-Year-Old On Christmas: Lax Return Policy And Supervision To Blame?

Thanks to a questionable Nintendo DSi system, an 8-year-old has discovered porn over his Christmas holiday.

According to Huffington Post, Tom Mayhew's son discovered pornographic images after Mayhew purchased the Nintendo device from Walmat.

"It was a shocker because we had family here, and there were a lot of kids here," Mayhew told Virginia TV news website WAVY. "The kids were the ones that discovered those pictures."

"There is no reason for them to be even really on there. It's disgusting for one. It seems that this was the only thing left on it."

While Mayhew initially speculated that the porn images came with the system, it is more probable that the Nintendo system was purchased and returned to Walmart with the images downloaded.

Given that contemporary Nintendo and Sony handheld systems are capable of web browsing, taking photos, and storing external content, this puts into question how Walmart supervises its returned items.

Generally, the Walmart return policy stipulates that electronic devices must be returned within 15 days of purchase, but whether the systems are cleared of its old data remains uncertain after this news story.

But Walmart is not the only Nintendo affiliate which has encountered controversy with such an event.

Last Christmas in Lakewood, Colorado, Mark Giles purchased a Nintendo 3DS from a local Gamestop for his 5-year-old son, only to discover nine pornographic images on the console.

While the Gamestop employee told Giles the Nintendo 3DS was not removed before the device was returned, this was obviously not the case.

"You can't unsee this," said Giles. "He's not going to forget about this tomorrow."
