‘Super Smash Bros 4’ Wii U Release Date News: Zelda Revealed As The 20th Playable Character; One Of Nintendo’s First-Party Characters, Starfy, Also Arriving

"Super Smash Bros. 4" Wii U release date is set for 2014.

Though Nintendo is not revealing yet a more specific Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U release date, the game developer has ensured that the upcoming title will be available at some point in 2014.

Previously, news about Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U release date intensified as the branch manager of Nintendo Germany stated that the company is planning to release the fighting game during spring season of 2014. However, this was later refuted by Nintendo saying that there is no solid Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U release date yet other than the 2014 launch timeframe.

Aside from news about Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U release date, new characters were revealed to be part of the upcoming game. Recently, Nintendo shared that Princess Zelda will be joining the roster of characters for Super Smash Bros.4, Wii U and 3DS versions. As posted on IGN, the princess of Hyrule will be the 20th playable character in the Nintendo game.

 According to Segment Next, citing Miiverse, Zelda will be part of Super Smash Bros. 4 Wii U and Nintedo 3DS in celeberation of the launch of "The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds in Japan."

Princess Zelda will be joining other royalties in Nintendo such as Peach and Rosalina. The post also reads, "...Zelda will have a few familiar stages to fight on, like Skyloft, Gerudo Valley, and the Spirit Tracks Train."

Furthermore, as posted on Examiner, citing a Mii-Gamer report, game director, Masahiro Sakurai, also revealed that Starfy will return in both the Wii U and 3DS version of the Super Smash Bros. 4. Accordingly, Starfy, the yellow-colored star is one of Nintendo's first-party characters and the mascot for 5 handheld platform games. Starfy also appeared as an assist trophy in the Nintendo Wii game, "Super Smash Bros. Brawl."
