"It's never fun to go into a building and not compete," Brodeur told ESPN.com. "We're not having the greatest of seasons, but we're competing in most of the games. That's one of them where we were not there, so we've just got to play with them. We played Pittsburgh well. There's no reason why we can't play them well either."

The Blackhawks, though, failed to earn a second point when they gave up a goal 58 seconds into the extra frame against the New York Islanders just 24 hours ago.

"I don't think it was a complete effort. We were sloppy in our own zone, and we know we have to be better tomorrow night," captain Jonathan Toews told ESPN.com. "We weren't clicking and didn't have our legs going, and weren't playing with as much speed and intensity. We have to look past it and be ready tomorrow night."

Injury report, according to NHL.com:

"Blackhawks goaltender Nikolai Khabibulin (lower body) is out. ... Carter (lower body) has a "decent shot" to play, DeBoer said, after sitting out since Nov. 30. Volchenkov (undisclosed) has missed two games. Defenseman Adam Larsson (lower body) is close to returning. Forward Damien Brunner (knee) and defenseman Peter Harrold (foot) are out."
