Asus Transformer Book T100TA Review: 10.1-inch Laptop-Tablet Hybrid Sports Great Screen & Long Battery Life; $448 Device Has Intel’s Baytrail Processor

Asus Transformer Book T100TA review, specs: Laptop-tablet hybrids has been the rage for a good part of 2013 and with the specs and performance of the $448 Asus Transformer Book T100TA, it looks like such machines is still a good buy for 2014.

Expert Reviews described the T100TA as great value touchscreen hybrid with a great screen and long battery life. It’s also worth noting that this Asus hybrid has Intel’s Baytrail Atom processor, which gives it a huge performance boost compared to previous season’s Atom-based tablets.

The hybrid’s 1.3GHz Intel Atom Z3740 processor is not designed to run a lot of programs at once, but it still scored an impressive 22 in Expert Review’s multimedia benchmarks. The T100TA is not a gaming machine, so 3D games won’t pan well here. Less demanding games from the Windows 8 Store though would do fine.

One impressive thing about the T100TA is its battery life. According to Expert Reviews it lasted 11 hours and 49 minutes in a light use battery test with the screen set to half brightness. It’s only two minutes less than the long battery life of the Microsoft Surface 2, which is powered up to 11 hours and 51 minutes. One thing about the T100TA though is that it takes time to charge.

The 10-point touchscreen has an impressive resolution of 1,366 x 768 that made the graphics and text look sharp. There was also no issue in response particularly when closing browser windows with a tap. The images in the screen were deep and vibrant.

The contrast level of the display is excellent and has a huge contrast ratio of 1,036:1. The screen’s effective viewing angle also allows you to see images clearly from any position. The high contrast test photos are full of detail. Expert Reviews noted that the display of the T100TA is easily one of the best displays they’ve seen from a laptop.
