Patrick Sharp had a hat trick for the victory vs the Devils. He leads the Blackhawks with 25 on the season.

"My priority right now is the Hawks, and that's the way it's been all season," Sharp said told ESPN.com. "You hear stuff about yourself as a player, that kind of motivates you, so there's a little extra incentive to play well. But I'm getting a bigger opportunity from (coach Joel Quenneville) and the coaching staff this year and I want to make sure that I show them that I'm worth it."

His goaltender loves the roll Sharp is on right now who had six goals and 14 assists in 28 games last year.

"He has that eye of the tiger," goaltender Antti Raanta said of Sharp. "You can see it in the practice. He is trying to score every chance he has. When you do that in the practice it usually happens when you get the chances in the game."

Coach Todd McLellan replaced starting goalie Antti Niemi with Alex Stalock after the third Colorado goal, which was scored around the six minute mark of the second period. Stalock then let in the fourth goal.

"I didn't like the third goal; It has to be stopped," McLellan said, "and I didn't like the fourth goal. It has to be stopped. I've gone after our team in the new year, gone after them very [aggressively] and I've tried to hold them accountable, and the goaltenders are part of that. We can't keep going to the forwards or the D-men [for blame]."
