NBA Trade Rumors – Pau Gasol Has Played Last Game As A Laker? LA Trade Partners Not Limited To Cavaliers

Pau Gasol has been a class act all throughout his career. He loves it in LA, and even with the Lakers. However, class will not will win games and for the Lakers, they only one have one free pass-and it went to Kobe Bryant.

After a crushing loss against the Denver Nuggets, Pau discussed the inevitable with ESPN LA. Was this his last game as a Los Angeles Laker?

"Yeah, it could've. Any game could be your last game. It's not something you think about very often. It could be due [to] an injury or a trade, anything like that, but I'm happy with the way that I'm playing. In the last few games I'm giving it everything I have, and that's all I can do."

"It's not easy, but I try not to let it affect me at all," Gasol said. "I think I've done a pretty good job of it so far. Let's see how long it continues, or if something actually happens."

The trade talks between the Lakers and the Cavaliers have stalled because LA did not want a glass knee in exchange for Gasol. It was rather embarrassing to trade just to save money. Especially for this franchise.

The Cavs did not want to budge. Gasol can walk away at the end of the season, and trading an actual young asset for him is a big risk, to say the least.

However, ESPN later reported that the talks have progressed as the January 7 deadline neared. Perhaps the Cavs did not want to pay the other half of Bynum's contract, and waiving him will leave their hands empty. Disgruntled guard Dion Waiters was the asset in question.

In the latest Yahoo NBA Power Rankings, the Lakers were ranked 16th with this description: "The Lakers' trade talks involving Pau Gasol aren't limited to the Cavaliers."

Very intriguing. Yahoo did not name the other teams but the Chicago Bulls are definitely in play. Even the Boston Celtics are not out of the question.
