Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Huawei Unveils Ascend Mate 2, Packs 6.1" 720p Display, Quad-Core CPU, 2GB RAM, 13MP Camera, Slimmer Frame

As the CES 2014 commences in Las Vegas, Huawei quietly announces its newest flagship and one of the upcoming Android phones in 2014 - the Ascend Mate 2 4G.

Announced via Flickr, the Android-powered handset will feature top-notch specs save for the 720p resolution of its phablet-sized screen.

Huawei's Ascend Mate 2 4G boasts a Snapdragon processor of unknown variant, though reports from GSM Arena assume it would be a Cortex-A7. The handset will also have 2GB of RAM, the Chinese manufacturer's Emotion UI 2.0, and Android 4.3 Jelly Bean out of the box. Fortunately, it would soon get the latest Android version as soon as it is available.

Other notable specs include an upgraded 13MP primary camera that is able to shoot 1080p videos, and a decent 5MP front camera. The phone can now access 4G LTE networks, with downloads of up to 150Mbps.

On the battery side, the Huawei handset still packs the 4,050mAh battery of the original for long-lasting power that would last for more than a day.
