Upcoming Samsung Phones 2014: New Report Says Galaxy S5 Will Not Have Super AMOLED Screen, Would Get Sharp's 2K Display Instead

There have been lots of phone rumors lately, and as CES commences, we notice that most upcoming Samsung phones 2014 might not make an appearance and choose the MWC in Barcelona instead.

One of the most anticipated devices from the Korean manufacturer is definitely the new Galaxy S5 flagship. And now a new report claims that for the first time in the Galaxy S lineup, the new handset would not have Samsung's famous Super AMOLED displays.

According to GSM Arena, Chinese website Tencent reported that Samsung has decided to replace the displays that it would be using for the new Galaxy S flagship. Instead, taking its place is Sharp's 5.25-inch Ultra HD LTPS screen with 2K display, which would result in a pixel density of 560 pixels per inch, one of the highest in the market.

In the report, Samsung will reportedly have production shortages if it still pushes through in manufacturing Super AMOLED displays for the Galaxy S5. The great demand for the new Galaxy flagship may be too much for the company's factories and supply chains.

On the other hand, as a stakeholder of 3 percent of Sharp, Samsung would see more profit coming.

In the past few weeks, other rumors about the Galaxy S5 include a 64-bit CPU, a 16MP primary camera, and water and dust resistance.

Of course these are all unconfirmed specs so we may want to take them with a grain of salt.
