James Avery Death: Will Smith Finally Breaks Silence On His Uncle Phil's Passing, Posts Their ‘Last Picture Together’ On Facebook

Will Smith, the lead star of Fresh Prince of Bel Air where late James 'Uncle Phil' Avery became famous for, has finally spoken about the passing of his colleague.

On Monday, the four-time Grammy Awards winner posted a picture of him along with other Fresh Prince star on his Facebook page. The caption says:

Some of my greatest lessons in Acting, Living and being a respectable human being came through James Avery. Every young man needs an Uncle Phil. Rest in Peace

"This photo was the last time we were together"

James Avery, who is also known for being the voice of Shredder in the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles television series, died at the age of 65 in a Glendale hospital. Reports said his death was because of open-heart surgery complications.

The 45-year old star has been silent since the passing of his Uncle Phil last December. Her wife, Jada was the first to send a message regarding the news on behalf of the family. On Facebook, she said:

"I was hoping to start the new year differently but we have lost yet another friend. James Avery who we all lovingly know as Uncle Phil from The Fresh Prince has passed," she wrote. "Our condolences to aunt Florence (his mother), Miss Barbara (his wife) and all those who loved him. Rest in peace James."

Other Fresh Prince stars have also paid tribute to Avery through their social media accounts.

Tatyana Ali, who plays the role of Phil's streetwise youngest child, said:

"James was my teacher my protector & the most magnificent actor. We're feeling his loss very deeply. He'll always be apart of me #JamesAvery."

Alfonso Ribeiro, who was among the firsts to learn about the sad news, said:

"I'm deeply saddened to say that James Avery has passed away."

"He was a second father to me. I will miss him greatly."
