Sony Xperia Z1S T-Mobile Release Date: Waterproof 5-inch Handset With Full HD ‘Triluminous’ Sony Display Coming To T-Mobile On Jan. 22 For $528

Sony Xperia Z1S T-Mobile release date: Specs of the waterproof 5-inch handset mirrors in many ways Sony’s flagship Xperia Z1. After months of speculation, Sony has announced at the International Consumer Electronics Show 2014 (CES 2014) in Las Vegas that the Sony Xperia Z1S is coming to America via T-Mobile this January 22.

T-Mobile, America’s fourth largest carrier, will begin selling the Xperia Z1S for $0 down and 24 monthly payments of $22, which totals to $528.

According to BGR, the handset will be a T-Mobile exclusive in the United States. The specs of the unit has a few key updates. One notable update to the Xperia Z1S is that it has an IPS58 water resistance rating, which meant it is completely “waterproof” and not just “water -resistant.” The device can be submerged for extended periods of time without issue.

The Sony Xperia Z1S also has a 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, a 3,000 mAh battery, a 5-inch full HD “Triluminous” Sony display, and a 20.7 megapixel camera. It will come with Android 4.3 out of the box.

“As a waterproof smartphone complete with the best of Sony’s technology, Xperia Z1s breaks the mold of not only what you can do with a smartphone, but where you can take it,” said Sony Mobile U.S. president Ravi Nookala, as reported by BGR
“Building on the momentum of the successful partnership for the launch of Xperia Z, T-Mobile’s shared vision of delivering an uncompromised mobile experience makes them the perfect exclusive partner to bring Xperia Z1s to the U.S.”

Aside from the Sony Xperia Z1S, Sony also launched at CES 2014 the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact. The unit offers high-end specs, but in a smaller form factor according to ZDNet. Many are alluding to the Z1 Compact as the rumored Z1 Mini.

Specs of the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact include a 4.3-inch display, 720p display, 2,300 mAh battery, 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 800 processor, 2GB RAM, and a 20.7 megapixel camera. The Compact is available in black, white, bright lime and pink.

The Z1 Compact is a departure from the “Mini” versions of other Android handsets where under the hood features have been compromised to fit the smaller devices. The Sony “Mini” device has all the high-end specs while fitting into a smaller unit.
