Upcoming Android Phones 2014: Asus' ZenFone 5 Specs Can Rival A Flagship Handset From 2 Years Ago, But Just Costs $150

Do you want a decent handset that only costs a fraction of the price of other devices on its spec range?  If so then you may want to check out one of the most affordable upcoming Android phones this 2014 - the Asus ZenFone 5.

As a member of the trio of budget phones released by the Taiwanese manufacturer, one would expect the ZenFone 5 to sport entry-level specs with its $150 pricetag. However, that's where things get more exciting.

Packed with a 5-inch screen at 720p resolution, the Android-powered device can easily match to flagship standards two years ago - and it even has an edge with that screen size.

On board may just be a dual-core chip, but its Intel's Atom Z2580 CPU that is capable of Quad-Thread Hyper-Threading and is clocked at 2GHz. There is also a 1GB of RAM which may disappoint some consumers, but the $150 price more than justifies it. The phone comes with 4GB of internal memory, with an option to increase storage through a microSD card slot.

The droid also packs an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2MP front facer for better image resolution on screenshots.

Lastly, the Asus budget phone has a fairly small 2050mAh battery and runs on Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with a promised update to KitKat some time in the future.

Asus is really making a bold move by releasing the ZenFone 4, 5 and 6 with midrange specs but entry level pricing. If you're not pretty particular with smartphone brands and you definitely want a bang for your buck, these trio could be useful for you.
