NBA Slam Dunk Competition 2014 Participants Include John Wall And Damian Lillard Who Will Show Off Their Dunking Skills, New Rules Announced For Contest

NBA All-Star Weekend 2014 Dunk Contest: The Slum Dunk contestants for this year's much anticipated event has been selected and hand picked by the league to entertain fans and show their creativity in the upcoming contest.

Part of this year's slam dunk contest will be three players from the East and three players from the West. John Wall, Paul George and defending champion Terrence Ross will be standing up and dunking it down for the East and Damian Lillard, Harrison Barnes and rookie Ben McLemore will be representing the Western Conference.

Part of this year's exciting competition will be a new format not just dunking for three rounds and the top two players advance to the final round. This year, the league introduced a new competition, as the East and West teams will compete against each other for the first round that is called the 'Freestyle Round'.

In the 'Freestyle Round', the players from both conferences will be teaming up and put in as much dunks as creative as possible in the span of 90 seconds.

The next round will be the 'Battle Round', where it will be a head-to-head competition different from the first round. This will be pretty much be like the previous year's dunk competition rules, which will be voted by the judges.

Virtually there will be no individual dunk winner but rather a team winner but fans could vote for the best individual dunker among the six players to be crowned the 'Dunker of the Night'.

With relation to Paul George being in the slam dunk contest this year, he is also has been selected to be the team captain of this year's Eastern conference team.

"It's a real honor to serve as the Captain of the Eastern Conference Team for All-Star Saturday Night. This is a great opportunity to support and raise awareness of very worthy charities while entertaining our fans with contests showcasing the athleticism, creativity and excitement of our game. I'm particularly pumped to be in the Slam Dunk Contest as the new format provides players with the chance to display our individual skills while battling for conference bragging rights," George said.
