Game Of Thrones’ Kit Harington Says Pompeii 3D Appeals So Much To Him; Director Paul Anderson Thinks His Project Is The Perfect Movie For 3D

Kit Harington is known for his role as Jon Snow in HBO TV series Games of Thrones. Come February 21, fans will see a new side of him as his disaster-adventure film Pompeii is set to hit the big screen.

In this film, directed by Paul Anderson and distributed by TriStar Pictures, Harington will play the role of Milo, a slave who became an invincible gladiator who find himself saving his true love Cassia (Emily Browning), the beautiful daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been unwillingly betrothed to the corrupt Roman Senator Corvis (Kiefer Sutherland).

If you’ll compare Harington’s role in GoT to Pompeii, you won’t find too much difference. In the HBO series, his Jon Snow is a slave and the bastard son of Eddard Stark and the half-brother of Robb, Sansa, Arya, Bran and Rickon Stark. Likewise, Milo is a slave who was forced to do things against his will, including fighting Atticus (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), an African gladiator on the verge of freedom.

In different interviews, the 27-year old English actor has expressed his enthusiasm about his role.

"I knew this would be a terrific project to be part of. I love action. Milo's tragic backstory and quest for vengeance appealed to me," said Harington in a report by the Huffington Post.

Harington is so pumped with his latest project. Why not? The film has been receiving good reviews on the web. The Huffington Post wrote that Pompeii 3D “is an epic movie that has everything: Visually breathtaking, a touching love story, adrenalizing gladiator combat with historical details that are unmatched.”

Director Anderson has expressed confidence that his work will succeed critically. He even said that it is the perfect 3D movie with the way they worked on every little details.

“There are these two intertwined bodies and the lovers are kind of just looking at one another. And that for me was very emotional and that was really the basis of the entire movie,” said Anderson after visiting the set for ancient city and saw the plaster casts of the victims first hand.

Even the volcanic eruptions in the movie received good reviews from people who have worked closely on such disasters.

The Voice of America wrote that Pompeii’s “3D also captures the spectacle of the eruption of Mount Vesuvius, especially the spewing of firebombs down on Pompeii, destroying everything in their way. However, that’s not what actually happened, said volcano expert Rosaly Lopes.”
