Apple iWatch Release Date: Specs Of Rumored Apple Smartwatch Incl. Plastic OLED Panels By LG Display; Fall Launch Expected With iOS 8

Apple iWatch release date: Specs of the rumored smartwatch by the Cupertino tech giant is reported to have plastic OLED panels by LG Display. According to a report by the International Business Times, the device maybe launched this fall together with iOS 8.

According to the report, there will be mass productions of the units from July to September with the goal of making 2 million units in total. The technology to create the displays, which would measure around 1.52 inches is similar to what LG uses for its LG G Flex device. The glass will be P-OLED or plastic OLED.

Know Your Mobile notes that the display will be bendable and feature anti-scratch technology which the LG G Flex also have. The report’s credibility is enhanced by the production dates, which begins second half of 2014. The mobile industry-focused blog said that Apple has experienced difficulties in getting the iWatch off the ground. Problems with the unit have included screen technology, battery power and other corporate issues.

In an early January report by The Information, it notes that Apple has been experiencing some problems with pretty much all aspects of the iWatch’s development.

"None are necessarily significant enough to delay a launch, which analysts peg to this year. But they illustrate the hurdles the company faces before it can release its first major new device since its family of iPads", says The Information report as quoted by KYM.

As wearables has become a major theme during the Consumer Electronics Show 2014, Apple is expected to enter what could be the hottest tech category of the year.
