NBA Trade Rumors: Josh Smith Is A Target Of The Phoenix Suns! Quality Big Man Will Help Suns For Deep Playoff Run! Will Pistons Dream Scenario Happen? No More Pau Gasol?

The NBA trade rumors are nearing the homestretch as the deadline approaches. The Phoenix Suns are definitely a buyer. They have a 'hit list' of targets already.

From Basketball Insiders, these are the list of big men that the Phoenix Suns are targeting. Apparently, they are also being shopped by their teams:

"Josh Smith, Greg Monroe, Larry Sanders, Omer Asik, Anderson Varejao, Carlos Boozer, Spencer Hawes and maybe even Brook Lopez are a few of the bigger names that are believed to be available. If the Suns could add a star-level big man to their front line they might just have enough talent to get to the second round."

Josh Smith has the highest price tag among all the others, but he has a skill set that the Suns could use. His shot selection is still far from ideal, especially since he came from a Pistons team that had a twin tower combination and used him at the three spot at times. No matter what critics say, J-Smoove is a mean double-double machine.

The Pistons would like to trade him according to USA Today:  "Dumars would be more than willing to trade forward Josh Smith. Yet the reality of Smith's contract signed last summer (four years, $54 million) means he's likely going nowhere."

Would the Suns consider his price tag?

Perhaps they would if the Pistons add a sweetener. Or take a bad contract from the Suns. The Pistons should do everything to make this happen.

However, the Suns have not exactly closed the door to Pau Gasol. They did not come to terms because the Lakers wanted a real asset. They don't need to trade for just an expiring contract because Pau himself is an expiring contract. Reports say the talks will resume before the deadline, when the Spaniard plays again after his injury.
