iPhone 6 Release Date: Sony Will Supply More Cameras For Apple's Upcoming iPhones, Can Possibly Reach 200 Million CMOS Sensors Each Year

While we still don't have a specific iPhone 6 release date, new reports are coming in about Apple's upcoming handset.

For the past couple of years, Sony has been the main supplier of Apple for its rear cameras. The Cupertino then gets other suppliers in the US for its front-facing cameras. However, as the need for video calling and chatting increases, Sony may be providing more components.

According to a report by BGR, the Nikkei Asian Review reported that Sony has doubled its supply of camera parts for the upcoming iPhone 6. The Japanese manufacturer has allegedly been tapped for increased production in order for Apple to provide a better video calling experience to its consumers.

If this report pans out to be true, then Sony could be supplying over 200 million CMOS sensors to Apple every year.

The iPhone 6 is one of the most anticipated smartphones this year, and rumors suggest that Apple will be entering the phablet competition as well.

With the increasing number of huge Android-powered devices getting released every month, it is definitely the perfect time for Apple to leave its super compact display sizes, which have just remained at 4 inches over the past few years.
