Samsung Galaxy S3 Update: Android Powered Handset & Former Flagship Expected To Get 4.4 KitKat End Of 1Q 2014; No Official Rollout Date From Samsung Known

Samsug Galaxy S3 update: Android-powered and a former flagship of the South Korean tech giant, users of the S3 has endured numerous disappointments in 2013 after delays on the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update.

In a report by the International Business Times, it seems that S3 users may be getting an early surprise. Citing Android Geeks as a source, IBT reported that a Samsung software engineer told the Android-focused news site that the Note 2 and S3 would roll out “in late Q1 2014, soon after the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4.”

Though the Android 4.4 KitKat is now available in several devices, the S3 is still waiting for Google’s newest mobile OS. Samsung has yet to make an official announcement on its Android 4.4 schedule for flagship devices.

Reports have suggested that the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy S3 will be updating to Android 4.4 and that their rollouts will commence around March, the International Business Times reported.

Though the Samsung Galaxy S3 is no longer the flagship handset of Samsung, being that they have the Samsung Galaxy S4, it’s price point is very affordable at this point. A quick search online and it shows that Virgin Mobile U.S.A is offering the device at a $249.99.

In a report by Gotta Be Mobile, it noted that the Samsung Galaxy S3 is a device that is likely on the radar of many consumers who don’t want to spend a lot of money or simply aren’t interested in the high-powered specifications of devices like the Samsung Galaxy S4, HTC One, and even the iPhone 5S.
