Nokia Lumia Black Update: Verizon Handset Lumia 928 Users Now Have Access To Software Upgrade; New Features Of OS Incl. Glance Screen 2.0, Driving Mode

Nokia Lumia Black update: The Verizon-exclusive handset, Nokia Lumia 928, can now be receive the Nokia Lumia Black. According to WinBeta, the Lumia Black Update is rolling out now for those who own a a Lumia 928 on Verizon. They can go over to Settings > Phone updates, and check to see if the update is available.

WinBeta notes that the new Black update brings several interesting features to the handset, including the Glance Screen 2.0, driving mode, improved storage management and WiFi sharing. With the Lumia Black update, Lumia 928 users can now have custom ringtones for specific applications, double tap to wake and lock their device’s screen orientation. They also enjoy a host of new Nokia specific applications like Nokia Beamer, Storyteller, etc. and several other features.

According to the Windows-focused site, the download takes a minute or so. If the prompt doesn’t appear, it’s advisable that you give it some time and try again later. The Finnish tech giant, the mobile division of which is owned by Microsoft, has not posted the availability of the Lumia Black to reflect the rollout to 928 users.

To check for the Lumia updates, head over to Settings > Phone Update > Check for updates.

On the official page of the Lumia Black update on Nokia.com, it promises that the update will bring a “new camera experience and more on your Windows Phone 8 Lumia smartphone.”

The Lumia Black began rolling out on January 2014. Windows Phone 8 devices by Nokia include the Nokia Lumia 520, 520T, 521, 525, 620, 625, 720, 720T, 810, 820, 822, 920, 920T, 925, 925T, 928, 1020, 1320 and 1520.
