Prince Harry’s Girlfriend Cressida Bonas Attends Stepfather’s Funeral Alone; Meets Royal For Cirque Du Soleil Date After Service

Prince Harry did not accompany his girlfriend Cressida Bonas to her stepfather's funeral, but instead met up with his girlfriend for a date at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Wednesday evening for the Cirque du Soleil show.

Prince Harry's girlfriend Cressida Bonas attended the funeral of her former stepfather Christopher Shaw without her boyfriend. The 24-year-old dance graduate looked somber as she attended the final farewell for the financier, who died last month at 76 years old, Hello! magazine reports. Cressida was joined by her half-brother PR executive Jacobi Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe. When Cressida stepped into the church on Wednesday, she was spotted hugging the former housekeeper at Hinton Ampner, the stately home near Winchester where the family had lived.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry joined Prince Charles and Prince William at a conference on how to halt the illegal trade in wildlife. Cressida's mother Lady Mary was also not present at her former husband's funeral - she is thought to be on a holiday to mark her 67th birthday next week, Hello! magazine reports. Lady Mary and Christopher Shaw split up in 2000 after an unhappy four-year marriage, according to the Daily Mail.

Though Prince Harry didn't attend the funeral, he met up with Cressida at the Royal Albert Hall in London that evening for a date night. The couple, who have been dating nearly two years, was spotted enjoying the Cirque du Soleil show in a private box, Royal Central reports.

"Onlookers reported the couple appeared in good spirits and noted they looked loved-up as they left," the website writes.

According to E! News, Shaw was found dead when police responded to reports of "the sudden death of a man."

There appeared to be "no suspicious circumstances" surrounding Shaw's death, police told E! News in a statement. Cressida Bonas' stepfather had been suffering from long-term health problems, including chronic kidney disease, and was told he had 18 months to live, UsMagazine.com reports. The Sun reports that Shaw may have committed suicide with an overdose of pills. The coroner is still awaiting the results of the toxicology tests.
