‘How I Met Your Dad’ Star Greta Gerwig Insisted On More Creative Control? Indie Sensation To Write, Produce And Star On New CBS Sitcom

"How I Met Your Dad" star Greta Gerwig insisted on creative control before coming on board. As a result, the actress will also serve as writer and producer of the new show aside from headlining it, Deadline reported.

The new CBS sitcom is a spinoff of the hit series "How I Met Your Mother," and one of her significant creative inputs was moving the shooting location to New York from Los Angeles, the website reported.

The pilot will reportedly be a stand-alone, rather than piggyback on the final season of "How I Met Your Mother," The Hollywood Reporter said. CBS already ordered the pilot episode of "How I Met Your Dad" as it seeks to find a replacement for the successful run of HIMYM.

The "How I Met Your Mother" is enjoying a 4.5 rating for adults between the ages of 18-49, which translates to 10.5 million viewers in live-plus-7 ratings. That's enough to make the show "CBS' best Monday performer," Hollywood Reporter added.

Greta Gerwig, the indie sensation who found herself thrust into the spotlight following the critically acclaimed "Frances Ha" which she starred and co-wrote with Noah Baumbach, will play Sally in "How I Met Your Dad."

According to E! News, Sally is a "sweet yet free-spirited girl in her late-twenties" who seems to have the Peter Pan syndrome. Unlike Ted in HIMYM, however, Sally is already married when viewers see her in the pilot episode.

But Sally will realize that her personality clashes with her husband.

"With the help of her close group of friends, Sally will embark on an epic tale of bad-dates and crazy shenanigans, before eventually finally finding the father of her children," Leanne Aguilera wrote on E! TV Scoop.

Carter Bays, Craig Thomas and Emily Spivey ("Up All Night") will executive produce "How I Met Your Dad."
