The NBA Trade Rumors regarding the league's best players will continue, until they get traded. Right now, Kevin Love is in a situation where he's the prime target.
It is almost a foregone conclusion that Kevin Love will sign with the Lakers when he becomes a free agent. The statement by the Lakers that they are looking beyond the 2014 Free agent batch reinforces the suspicion that both parties have already agreed on an arrangement. Has Minnesota accepted this? Is there something they can do about it?
Yes, there is, and that is to win. The reality for those who want to trade for Kevin Love is that they have to deal with this at the end of next season. If Love would not assure that he would sign an extension or a new contract with the team, then they will lose him for nothing. This is why Love's trade value will diminish next season.
However, there are some teams who believe they have a shot at keeping Kevin. The Golden State Warriors are one of them. They reason that they are also based in California like the Lakers. They can also win with Kevin Love, and he is a good fit.

Timberwolves get: David Lee, Harrison Barnes, Draymond Green, 2019 First Round pick.
It's an interesting proposal. Kevin Love will be traded to a team that has Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Bogut and Andre Iguodala. That's a scary starting cast he will be joining. And yes, he will be under the sunny skies of California.
For the Timberwolves, they get a downgrade at the four spot, but Lee is still better than half the NBA's starting forwards. Harrison Barnes is a star in the making and Draymond Green is also rising. That's a good consolation prize. Better than anything the Lakers can offer.
One week before the deadline, we may see this coming.
