Square Enix Team Addresses Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster Epilogue, X-3, And Final Fantasy XII Remake: Pre-Order The Bundle Now As March 18 Release Date Approaches!

As Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster fast approaches it US release date, the Square Enix team are taking the time to address some long-standing rumors regarding future releases.

First, it appears that despite the rumors of a Final Fantasy X-3 due to the inclusion of the 30-minute audio epilogue, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster remain the only games currently in the works.

"Since we’re revisiting Final Fantasy X and X-2, which were released about 10 years ago, the series’ scenario writer Kazushige Nojima and character designer Tetsuya Nomura had a discussion and thought that the HD Remaster release would be a good opportunity for them to include this additional story episode [and expand upon the universe a little further]," says Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto.
"But the audio episode’s inclusion wasn’t because we have any plans to develop a Final Fantasy X-3."

According to Kotaku, the epilogue features two new characters Huami and Kurgum, members of the new Spiran Council tasked to convince Yuna to help resolve a problem in the Farplane.

Through this adventure, Chuami and Kurgum encounter many of the main cast characters in Final Fantasy X and X-2, and the epilogue deals with the issue of love and living in a new world without Sin.

In addition, the rumors that Final Fantasy XII will receive the next HD remaster have also been denied by Hashimoto.

"At this moment, we do not have any plans [to release a HD remastered version of Final Fantasy XII]. But as Kitase-san has mentioned, if there are a lot of requests from the fans for a HD remastered version of Final Fantasy XII, we might consider it," continues Hashimoto.

"But with that said, at this moment there are no plans to do so."

But that doesn't mean fans can't enjoy Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster when it is released on March 18.
