NBA All-Star Weekend Might Be Stretched To 7 Days, Reports Say; Know About The Player Who Suggested Such Idea

The NBA All-Star weekend is an annual event that players and fans alike look forward to. For NBA stars and others, this event somehow take them away from grueling elimination round games. For fans, this gives them the chance to see the best of the basketball world and get entertained with the most sleek, ferocious, and thunderous jams and insane three point shooting.

Players are probably among those who benefit the most in such event. They do not only get ample time for rest, they also get the chance to reach out to fans and reunite with friends. With so many things to do, it is just unfortunate for players that they only got three days. However, that might change soon as newly-appointed commissioner Adam Silver is now looking at the idea of extending the NBA All-Star to seven days and be called All-Star Week instead of All-Star Weekend. The consideration comes after Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers brought up the idea.

"I definitely think it's something that should happen," Paul told NBA.com's Steve Aschburner. CP3 also serves as the president of the National Basketball Players Association.

"Obviously All-Star weekend is all about the fans and showcasing our game to the entire world, but it would be nice to get a little break," the Clippers guard said. "Not saying the All-Stars are unhappy or ungrateful for being All-Stars, but to enjoy your family for a couple days would be nice."

"We'd be happy to look into it. The notion is that, in addition to the All-Star Game and the events itself, there should be a break built into the schedule. Maybe we could resume play on Thursday night, later in the week, to ensure that the All-Stars got time off as well," Silver said about the suggestion as per Aschburner.
