George R.R. Martin Still Mum On Release Date of ‘The Winds of Winter;’ But Says Lucky New Mexicans Get First Look Of Episode 1 of ‘Game Of Thrones 4”

George R.R. Martin has so far eluded all questions and pressures for him to announce the release date of "The Winds of Winter" as he continues to be mum about it. Instead, the evasive author has hyped the airing of episode 1 of "Game of Thrones" season 4, which is based on his extremely popular book series.

"HBO will broadcast episode one of season 4, entitled... ooops, sorry, don't think I am allowed to reveal the title yet... on Sunday, April 6," he wrote on his Not A Blog live journal.

George R.R. Martin also announced that 375 "lucky New Mexicans" will have a chance to get a first look of episode 1 on March 29 and see "what the rest of the country will need to wait another week and day for."

"I am thrilled to announce that on that day, by special arrangement with HBO, we will be presenting three advance screenings of episode 401 at the Jean Cocteau Cinema," he added.

George R.R. Martin admitted to feeling the pressure over the release date of his latest book "The Winds of Winter." However, he's still not saying when the release would be.

In an interview with Sydney Morning Herald last month, George R.R. Martin admitted to feeling the pressure from his fans as well as the networks for him to finish "The Winds of Winter," especially since the "Game of Thrones" is quickly gaining on the events in the book.

While it's good that many fans are waiting for the release of "The Winds of Winter" and the "Game of Thrones" is helping build up the anticipation, but at the same time George R.R. Martin said he wishes the pressure would just stop.

"I just wish they would stop pressuring me about it. It will be done when it's done. I'm working on it. I don't know what else I can say: I'm a slow writer, I've always been a slow writer, and these are gigantic books," he said.
