‘Ian Fleming’ Dominic Cooper Talks About His Hot Bed Scenes With Lara Pulver: ‘You Have To Give Good Performance Or It Will Be Painful’

Dominic Cooper is loving his role as Ian Fleming in BBC America’s Fleming: The Man Who Would Be Bond not only because of how big the project is but because of the exposure he gets. Last month, he told reporters that him playing the man behind the James Bond series might make him the next Agent 007.

Cooper, who will also star in "Need for Speed" movie alongside Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul, is also enjoying the ‘art’ part of the show wherein he had steamy scenes with Lara Pulver who plays the role of Ann O'Neill, Fleming’s love interest.

In an interview Britain’s Sun newspaper, the 35-year old English actor talked about how they prepared for those heavy bed scenes and how important it is for them to be perfect.

"It was rather exciting to do. More exciting than, 'They're so in love, just do a sex scene,” he said.

"When sex scenes help the development of the story or the character, you have to throw yourself into them. You have to be brave and very trusting of who you're doing them with - and you have to really go for it."

Cooper also shared that he is careful with the sex scenes.

"If it was too much and didn't feel right or if it was too aggressive or without any emotional content, we'd just change it. You have to give a good performance or it will look painful and not real."

"It was lust, it was the aggression of their lives, it was their anger and resentment towards one another... it was feeling through their sexuality."

Lara Pulver feels the same about the hot sexy scenes which she described as “shocker.”

"I felt it would be doing a disservice to their relationship if we didn't go 150% into that graphic sexual element," she says plainly. "I don't think Dom or I are up for shying away from it.

"Neither of us is scared of exploring the parts of the character that maybe an audience member won't particularly like at times. It might be a bit of a shocker!"
