Sarah Hyland Boyfriend Matt Prokop Reacts To Modern Family Star Assault In Sydney ‘In The States We Respect Women’, Australians Enraged!

Sarah Hyland boyfriend Matt Prokop took to Twitter to vent out his disgust at the (alleged) groping episode involving his girlfriend. The 'Modern Family' star Sarah Hyland was in Sydney, Australia to attend the Qantas meet and greet event on Thursday, February 20.

Sarah was meeting fans and posing for the photographers when a man, reportedly in his late 20s, approached her for a photograph and instead grabbed her breast (allegedly), eliciting "Don't touch me there!" from the Haley Dunphy actress.

The 23-year old star was reduced to tears and left the scene immediately, without attending the meet. She later tweeted her apologies to her fans for not being able to meet them because of 'inappropriate touch of a fan.'

Sarah was accompanied to the gala event by beau Matt Prokop who was infuriated by the assault on his lady love. He went on a short Twitter rant condemning "the asshole who assaulted Sarah tonight I hope to God you don't see next week."

He later added, "All Sarah wanted to do tonight was say hi to the girls who were waiting outside one douche can ruin it for everyone. Goodnight."

These two comments invoked a lot of mixed tweets from followers and in one of his replies, the 'Geek Charmer' actor said 'In the States we respect women.' This particular tweet enraged the Australians who felt offended as for some, the comment implied that they do not respect women.

Responding to the slew of angry tweets that followed, Matt Prokop clarified his intentions behind his comment and said that he did not mean to generalize the Australian men or remark negatively on their conduct towards women. He said that his tweets were blown out of context.

Meanwhile, according to Daily Mail, the New South Wales police have charged a 29-year old man with assaulting a woman near Hickson Road, The Rocks.
