Amy Adams Breaks Down At Mention of Philip Seymour Hoffman’s Name on 'Inside the Actors Studio'

Amy Adams was still reeling over Philip Seymour Hoffman's death when she appeared on "Inside the Actors Studio." The stellar actress wasn't acting when she got emotional at the mention of Philip Seymour Hoffman's name.

Amy Adams teared up while she was talking about the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman during a recent visit to "Inside the Actors Studio" on Bravo that she taped just days after the actor died.

Amy Adams stopped at the Inside The Actor's Studio" interview to record an episode with James Lipton.  Amy Adams has worked with Philip Seymour Hoffman often enough that he got insider her emotionally.

Adams told the assembled audience of actin students "He was beautiful. He's a beautiful spirit and he had this unique ability to see people, to really see them-not look through them-he just really saw people. And he will be missed. Sorry, I really... I just really loved him and I know so many people did."

Adams starred with Hoffman in "Charlie Wilson's War"as well as 2008's "Doubt" and again in 2012 for "The Master."

Adam bravely continued through the tears saying "And he will be missed. Sorry, I really...I just really loved him and I know so many people did, and I just don't know how much more I can talk about it now. Sorry."

At the end of "Inside The Actors Studio" Lipton paid a special tribute to Hoffman by replaying his appearance from 2000.

When James Lipton asked Philip Seymour Hoffman what he'd like to hear God say when he arrived in Heaven, Hoffman deadpanned, "Alright, let's do it again."

Lipton observed "Fourteen years ago I brought Philip Seymour Hoffman to this stage with the prediction that he would become the greatest actor of his generation. And he did."

Amy Adams is up for an Academy Award for her work in "American Hustle." The Oscars air live on ABC, March 2 at 8:30 p.m. EST.

When Amy appeared on Inside the Actors Studio on Feb. 5, Adams couldn't control her emotions when she was asked about Hoffman. A witness told Us magazine. "It hit a nerve with her. [She] was sobbing and couldn't finish most of her sentences. Amy talked about how he was the greatest actor she had worked with, and couldn't even tell stories about him without crying. She said to the audience of acting students 'I wish you all could have had the chance to work with him.'"

Amy Adams has taken the death of Hoffman very personally. The actress pulled out of additional television appearances.

The 46-year-old Oscar-winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman was found dead from an apparent heroin overdose in his New York City apartment on Feb. 2. Hoffman joined the cast of The Hunger Games in the  2013's sequel Catching Fire. Hoffman played head gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee. He also will be seen in the final two installments of "The Hunger Games." Reports says Hoffman's work on the "Hunger Games" films as rebel leader Plutarch Heavensbee was largely complete. Hoffman had just seven days left to shoot on "Mockingjay Part II." The studio believes that Hoffman's death won't alter production schedules or release dates.
