‘How I Met Your Mother’ Season 9 Spoilers: Marshall Finishes Filming Final Episode, Jason Segel Heads To Michigan To Shoot Movie

"How I Met Your Mother" season 9 is officially drawing to a close: Jason Segel, who plays Marshall, has finished filming the final episode and has already left the set to start shooting a movie in Michigan, according to spoilers.

According to CarterMatt.com, Jason Segel has wrapped up his time filming the role of Marshall Eriksen on "How I Met Your Mother" season 9.

The news was confirmed by series propmaster David Baker on Twitter. Though "How I Met Your Mother" season 9 still has a couple of shooting days next week to finish up the last episode, Segel left early in order to begin filming a new movie.

"@jasonsegel is heading off to Michigan to shoot a movie, so he won't be with us for our last week of filming. #HIMYM #HEARTBREAKING," Baker tweeted.

The table-read for the last episode got very emotional for our favorite cast. Speaking to Us Weekly, an insider from the table read described the moment: "Everyone was tearing up ... It's a great last episode, people are feeling really good about it. Cobie [Smulders] was next to Neil [Patrick Harris], Alyson [Hannigan] was next to Jason [Segel], everybody was sharing sad smiles. Everybody has lived with these characters for so long."

The stars of "HIMYM" took to Twitter to share their feelings after reading the script of the final episode.

Alyson Hannigan,who plays Lily, posted a picture of the script beside a pile of used tissues and two empty bottles of water: "Umm... so this is how the last HIMYM Table Read went for me. #sorrytrees".

Neil Patrick Harris wrote: "Just finished the initial read thru of the final 'How I Met Your Mother'. Ever. Holy Moly. Just... holy dang moly #soproud (sic)".

Josh Radnor wrote: "Read the 'HIMYM' series finale script on the treadmill at the gym this morning. People probably thought that was sweat in my eyes. Suckers".

Co-creator of the show, Craig Thomas, tweeted: "Final #HIMYM table read - there are no words. And to state the obvious: The cast, including Cristin [Milioti], was just amazing."

"How I Met Your Mother" returns to CBS on February 24 at 8/7c, after a short winter hiatus. The finale, titled "Last Forever," will air on Monday, March 31.
