Sony VAIO Flip 15 Review, Specs: Windows 8 Powered Ultrabook W/ Intel iCore i7 Processor, 1TB Hard Drive Well-Designed For Its Price; Affordable Desktop Replacement

Sony VAIO Flip 15 review: Windows 8-powered Sony VAIO Flip 15 is an Ultrabook with top-notch specs that’s designed to deliver. According to ComputerShopper.com, the VAIO Flip 15 is the “best laptop/tablet hybrid we’ve seen.”

Specs of the Sony VAIO Flip 15 include an Intel Core i7 processor, 8GB of RAM in its memory and 1TB of hard drive. It has a Microsoft Windows 8 operating system, 15.6-inches of display and an Intel HD 4400 graphics processor. Price for the unit starts at $799.99, making it an affordable desktop replacement and notebook.

CNET notes slim, powerful and sharp-looking design of the 15-inch hybrid as major plus for the notebook as well as its ability to work great in laptop mode. It also feels very high-end and is made of silver-and-black aluminum, with a black lit keyboard.

The unit is Sony’s innovative attempt at a big-screen hybrid and it looks great for its price. It does, however, work better as a laptop than a tablet, says CNET.

An Endgadget review cites the 15-inch notebook as rather bulky for a convertible. It could also be awkward to use in tablet mode, even when it’s resting on your lap. CNET says that the battery life of the unit could be better and screen is especially glossy in some cases.

Overall, the convertible for its price delivers value, but it serves better as a laptop replacement than an addition to your array of tablets. The Sony VAIO Flip line of convertibles is also available in 14-inch and 13-inch screens.
