‘Noah’ 2014 Cast: Emma Watson Gets Sick After Drinking Stagnant Water! Director Imposes Strict Water Bottle Ban On The Set!

Much has been said about the passion of director Darren Aronofsky on the set of his movies. No one is spared, not even the biggest stars! His latest victim: Emma Watson!

The former Hermione Granger narrates an anecdote she experienced on the set. Aronofsky strictly imposed a total ban of bottled water on the set of the film. This is to stay true with the movie's environmental theme. Emma shares the story through The Guardian:

"Because of the storm, Douglas [Booth] and I ended up shooting most of our scenes between 4am and 7am - and at that time I never function well. Because the film has a pro-environment message, Darren didn't want anyone drinking from plastic water bottles on set either. So that made things slightly harder.

Everything we used had to be recycled or recyclable. Having no water bottles on set at five in the morning, when you're exhausted and delirious, wasn't ideal. I was so tired one morning I picked up a mug from my trailer and drank some stagnant water that had been there for the duration - so three months. I was so ill."

One would suppose that the young actress would get a free pass after that debacle. The passionate director would not hear of such things! Watson continues:

"I came in the next day and was like: 'Darren, I don't think I can do this, I'm really sick. He was like: 'Use it for the scene.' And I turned round to the bus and was like: 'Is he joking? He is joking right?' and there was deadly silence."

These stories are typical of an Darren Aronofsky project. He is always firm and unwavering. You would not expect him to bow down to his actors and actresses especially if he doesn't back down from the producers who fund his film.

The 'Black Swan' helmsman recently celebrated a victory over his producers when they insisted certain cuts be made to please some vocal religious sectors. From The Hollywood Reporter, Aronofsky shares: "They tried what they wanted to try, and eventually they came back. My version of the film hasn't been tested ... It's what we wrote and what was greenlighted."

Aronofsky's way usually translates well on the big screen and he is known to squeeze out the best from his actors. One example is how Natalie Portman won her Best Actress Oscar in "Black Swan." This is why an Aronofsky project attracts big names despite his harsh reputation.
