Amazon Kindle Fire HDX reviews: Specs of Amazon’s 8.9-inch Amazon Kindle Fire HD is powered with a 2.2GHz quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM. The unit sports an HDX display with a high pixel density of 339 and with Amazon AppStore and Amazon Prime, the Kindle Fire HDX is deemed a multimedia power house and a true “must have,” especially for die-hard Amazon fans.

On a spec sheet by Phone Arena, it described the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch model as a hardware beast. The tablet’s quad-core processor is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 and runs on 2GB RAM, with an Adreno 330 GPU. Built-in storage for the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch is 16GB and connectivity options include Wi-Fi, USB. It also has a 4G LTE variant. The device runs on a Fire OS 3.0, based on Android 4.2.2.

According to Gizmag, the first thing you’ll notice on the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch is that its ridiculously light. Thanks to its 374 grams weight, the unit feels more like a children’s toy, Gizmag noted. Its dimensions and overall size “strikes a terrific balance.”

The HDX 8.9-inch is huge enough to be considered a large-display tablet, its size gives you a 79 percent screen size as the iPad Air. Its weight, however, is very much similar with the weight of iPad Mini with Retina. It has a plastic body with a matte finish that feels pretty solid and comfortable in hand. The back of the unit has an angular shape, a thicker center and slopes down toward the thinner edges. Thanks to its design, the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch has a good, firm grip on any of the sides.

The Amazon tablet has one of the best displays of its kind on any mobile device. The unit is extremely sharp, thanks to its super hi-res display and pixel density. Brightness, color range, and color accuracy of the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch is great as well. Gizmag says it has an incredibly crisp, clear, and vivid display.

Based on a test by Gizmag, it noted that in their review, the HDX 8.9-inch didn’t run in a single performance issue. The excellent performance of the unit is mainly due to its under the hood feature of having a quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor, easily one of the fastest mobile silicon around.

Battery life of the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9-inch is outstanding, based on Gizmag’s test, it lasted exactly 10 hours. This is one unit good to be used for a whole day.

The 16GB version of the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX is at $379, with special offers and Wi-Fi only. You can purchase a unit with up to 64GB internal storage, with an option of having special offers or without, and in either Wi-Fi only, WiFi plus 4G LTE.
