Android 4.5 Release Date: Google Mobile OS Update Rumored To Arrive With Nexus 8 On July; Google I/O Won’t Show New Tablet & Software

Android 4.5 release date: Android 4.4 KitKat has barely rolled-out to most major devices and the up to 12 Samsung Galaxy units it’s supposed to arrive on, and the rumor mill is at the heels of circulating that an upcoming Android 4.5 will be launched with the earlier speculated Nexus 8.

According to a source who spoke with Android Geeks, the Android 4.5 will come this July with the announcement of the 8-inch Google Nexus tablet. There were earlier rumors that the tablet and new OS will not be announced at the Google I/O annual event.

The name of the Android 4.5 OS has not yet been decided, Android Geek noted. But since the tradition is on sweet tooth items and the names of the OS fall in sequence, like G in Gingerbread, H in Honeycomb, I in Ice Cream Sandwich, J in Jelly Bean, and K in KitKat, the rumors of the new Android is either Ladoo or Lassi.

As for the Nexus 8 supplier, there has been no news on who would be the hardware supplier. Speculations have earlier noted that ASUS may be the manufacturer of choice and not LG, though previous news has mistakenly identified an LG G Pad 8.3 LTE edition as the Nexus 8.

The latest round of info on the Nexus 8 and Android 4.5 came from an Android Geeks employee who was able to get in contact with one of the company’s Dublin employees to check if the next version of Android would be revealed at the event or not. The possibility of the Nexus 8 and Android 4.5 not appearing at the Google I/O is highly likely since the company would want the focus to be on their services and not products.
