The Hurricanes have scored four goals in the three defeats since returning from the Olympic break and are coming off a 3-1 loss to the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday in which they generated little offense. Carolina continues to be in the penalty box. It went 7-for-7 one game, and was 5-for-5 before allowing the game-winner on the sixth try to the Kings.

"That was pretty much the difference in the game," coach Kirk Muller told NHL.com. "I thought our guys played hard, but if you're going to give six or seven power plays to the other team, eventually it's going to hurt you. Two things: We didn't stay out of the box and it cost us and we didn't capitalize when we had some good scoring chances."

Anaheim is 1-0 since returning from the break. The Ducks shutout the Blues 1-0 and are finally playing their second game on Sunday night.

"It's an Eastern Conference team so you don't see them as often so there's not that rivalry that sets in," Anaheim defenseman Cam Fowler said. "We have to be ready because they've got good skill over there and they're going to work hard so it's going to be an important game for us."

One Ducks player keeping tabs on the opposition is defenseman Bryan Allen, who is in his second season with Anaheim after playing all 82 games for Carolina in 2011-12.

"They're in play in the East, fighting for points and every game is a big one for them," Allen said. "I know they've started the road trip not the way they've wanted to and they're going to be hungry so we've got to be ready to match their intensity."
